Seth Rogen was a co-scripter with Evan Goldberg for Pineapple Express. The movie turned out to be really amazing, I’ll probably go see it again. Rogen was in a number of other movies, one being popular as well is Superbad. Although Pineapple Express was way better and held my attention the whole time while I never even made it through all of Superbad. In Pineapple Express Rogen played Dale Denton who is a process server that gets extremely high to ease the pain of having to hand out subpoenas.
When Denton runs low on his stash Saul (James Franco) comes into the picture. Saul is Denton’s kind hearted and dopey weed dealer who spends all of his time consuming and selling weed to his clients. After sharing an interesting cross joint with Saul and getting some of the exclusive and rare weed from which the title of the movie takes its name, Denton goes back to his job.
It’s very late when Denton arrives at his last serve for the day who ends up to be the drug lord that Saul gets his special Pineapple Express from. Denton witnesses a dirty woman cop and the drug lord kill a Chinese drug competitor. At that point Denton tosses a roach out the window and tries to leave the scene but crashes into two cars getting him noticed. The drug lord then runs outside with the cop and can instantly tell the weed left in the roach was Pineapple Express and sends his henchman after Saul and the drug lords middle man, Red.
The story progresses into a funny man love man stoner movie that most ages can enjoy. I really favored how the movie brought Denton, Red, and Saul together forming a cute and funny male bond. But I don’t suggest this movie for kids 15 and under. It is rated R for its sexual innuendos, drug use, and language. Although Pineapple Express was extremely funny and oddly easy to relate to. I would recommend seeing this movie in theater and buying it when it comes out on DVD.

One more sip of sweet champagne. Another glass of scotch. Some vodka for the road perhaps. What damage could this sweet liquor do? What consequences could feeling good bring? So take the keys and drive the car, chances are you won’t make it home.
Our society is one of childish indulgence, whose population rarely sees past immediate gratification to the ramification of their choices. We are doomed by our misguided belief in our own invisibility, the notion that bad things happen to someone else, people die, but not me. We live our life through this naïve veil, until in an instant our world, all our misconceptions are shattered. The remnants of our life lay in the wreckage of a burning car and in the eyes of the innocent. In only moments are choice to drink a little more, to take the keys, to drive home ever so slightly impaired, doesn’t seem so harmless.
This cavalier and immature regard for the safety of others is never more evident than in the actions of today’s most watched, celebrities. Inbred into their luxurious lifestyle is an arrogant superiority and a feeling of being almost untouchable. Why then should they be concerned with thinking before they act? They are living in the moment, young and wild, born to do as they please.
The number of DUI arrests appearing on the records of the most talked about stars is on the increase. From Jimi Hendrix to our current President. From Lindsay Lohan to the most recent addition: Shia LaBeouf. With every passing day another mugshot is added to the list of drunk drivers. It seems an inescapable norm, the staple of the rich and famous, Hollywood’s latest fad.
What is it that drives those in the spotlight to make a name for themselves in the gossip section of every paper? Is it the unstable nature of their lives leading them to keep up the attention, good or bad? Is it simply an extreme case of teenage rebellion? Whatever their reason, the young and rich still find a scandal and an all to ready camera crew every time they hit the road, booze in hand.
But what does this new trend have in store for the masses, addicted to the drama of the stars, imitating their every whim??? Though it is ridiculous to hold such stars as Paris Hilton up as role model that is ultimately what they are to young girls with their noses in the tabloids. They see and do as the diva decrees. To watch those we idle flaunt their status with their haughty airs, we learn these behaviors, thinking them to be an acceptable way to deal with life regardless of the aftermath.
As this trend increases in popularity, who knows which face you will see on the 6 o’clock news, with the headlines reading: ‘Celebrity Driving Drunk Kills Kids.’

As the general public mourns Heath Ledger’s death Federal Investigators are taking action. Mary-Kate is still refusing to talk to the authorities about the young actor’s untimely drug related death. She wants complete immunity, which raises the question from what? Even though she was the first called to be a character witness to paint a picture of this mans life, she is the only one who has not cooperated with the authorities. I am certain that she is scared that is was somehow something that she had given him that killed him. Now I am no celebrity so I do not presume to understand the life they lead, but if I was worried I had killed somebody getting some drug charges would be the least of my worries.
Last night I went to see Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and I must admit it was better than I had expected but that is not saying much. The movie was a disappointment to the series. The special effects were great and the lighting was equally astounding. There was a scene where between the lighting and the camera angle where you almost see the statues moving. This is of course before they were raised and did in fact actually move.
Previous Mummy movies were dark and kept your attention, and while you knew that the heroes would eventually conquer all there was doubt in your mind as to who would make it and how they would fare. In this movie the entire movie you know who is going to live and what is going to happen, which to me is a bit of a turn off in this movie. Their dialogue was almost overly cliché and not cliché enough. It seemed as though they were talking from a script and not as though the people would actually say those things.
All in all it was very reminiscent of the Indiana Jones movies (which I love) where everything is very perfect and the hero speaks as though he were reading aloud from a book. The difference is that Indy pulls it off, whereas Brandon Frasier failed. Another thing that bothered me in the movie was how every little thing ended up perfectly, and nothing really bad happened to anybody, I like my movies to have a bit of reality in them. A great writer once said “Good fantasy has as much real in it as possible to convince you that everything is real”. Even in these great huge battles our heroes come out of it unscathed with nothing to show that they had just fought the undead. It was a mediocre movie but I think that you can wait until it comes to your local movie store before seeing it.
I don’t know anyone who can deny the uncanny talent of Heath Ledger, the recently deceased actor. To many people and Ledgers family and friends this is an extreme horrific tragedy. I personally was always completely captured by Heath Ledger ever since his 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You. I’m not even sure there is any reason I should ever go see a movie again, well unless Steven Tyler becomes an actor. But besides all of that there is all kinds of controversy surrounding the tragic death of such a beloved Australian star.
Ledger intertwined many a mind in his wonderful roles and kept all of us fans wanting more and more from him. Some say his death was accidental and others say it was a suicide but no note was found. Ledger was found naked and unconscious in his New York apartment in January of this year. He was found by his house keeper and masseuse and later it was confirmed that his overdose included Valium, Oxycontin, Xanax, and other pain and sleep medications. Others also believe that his epic role in Batman as the Joker had some play on his psyche and contributed to his death. I personally do not agree but the idea of a manic depressive character having that affect on a man who is on medications for pain and sleep and depression is an intriguing idea and I can not altogether dismiss it just yet.
One thing that irks me about this horrible misfortune is the fact that he has a little girl (Matilda Rose) that is not even 4 years old yet that has already lost her beloved father. Ledger met Matilda’s mother while filming his most popular and controversial movie Brokeback Mountain. Michelle Williams gave birth to Ledgers first and only child on October 28th 2005. Michelle and Ledger separated last year.
There is no answer to the death of the infamous Hollywood star. I’m sure we will all miss his perfect smile and that charming accent that is absolutely captivating. Whether it was suicide or just an accident I don’t think we will ever see another actor with such talent and perfection in each and every role. His young child, friends, family, and fans will never ever forget him.

The new reality show craze, I Love Money, has taken VH1 by storm and become one of the most popular shows. The new reality series has contestants from the “Love” shows such as Rock of Love, I Love New York, and of course Flavor of Love. The crazy reality celebs get together and fight for $250,000, with that said; there will be drama, more drama, and a lot of DRAMA. The production started early February 2008 and only three episodes have been aired so far. So obviously, three people have been eliminated already. The first to go was Midget Mac, he was sent home after offending, well, all 16 other cast members, the next to go was Nibblz and then Heat. The Entertainer eliminated heat, hmmmmm, think that could have something to do with the Entertainer-Destiny-Heat love triangle? Just with in the three episodes, that isn’t the only bit of romance popping up all over, 12 Pack and Heather got quite friendly while swapping spit after 12 Pack complimented her on her stripper skills.
The team captain is rotated before every challenge and no player can be captain two weeks in a row. The winning team gets immunity and the losing team sends three members to the chopping block. All of the challenges are based on past “Love” moments, which make the game a little more interesting with challenges such as the “Kissing Marathon.” Most I Love Money fans already can’t stand certain players, or well, mostly just Megan, Rock of Love 2. This show is sure to obtain plenty of drama and funny embarrassing ways to make money hungry people make fools of them selves.
Story By Cortney Smith.
Jenny Lewis, lead singer of Rilo Kiley, has announced the release of her new solo album Acid Tongue in September. This is a follow-up of her previous internationally acclaimed album Rabbit Fur that was released in 2006. The announcement was made just weeks after her worldwide tour for her new Rilo Kiley album “Under the Blacklight”.
Some of Lewis’ most steadfast collaborators appear on Acid Tongue: Johnathan Rice, Farmer Dave Scher, Jason Boesel, Jason Lader and M Ward. She also invited other notable musician friends into the fold, including Elvis Costello for a duet (”Carpetbaggers”), Chris Robinson (of The Black Crowes), Benji Hughes, Zooey Deschanel (of She & Him) & Vanessa Corbala (of Whispertown2000) on backing vocals, Paz Lenchantin (A Perfect Circle / The Entrance Band) and her sister Ana provided strings, Davey Faragher (of The Imposters) on bass, as well as Laurel Canyon’s own Jonathan Wilson on guitar, and even members of Jenny’s own family. Her sister Leslie Lewis provided backing vocals on two songs while her father, harmonica virtuoso Eddie Gordon makes a star turn on rumbling bass harp.
The all analog, no Pro-Tools sessions were all part of a shared aesthetic between Lewis, her producers, and her musician collaborators, working quickly and tracking her vocals entirely live and without embellishment. Recorded at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California in just 3 weeks, the album’s tracks, disparate as they are, share a sparkling vitality; Lewis’ voice has never sounded so expressive and the narratives have never been so hard-hitting and acerbic.

A “Pineapple Express” is what it’s called when we experience a weather system that has its origins in the Hawaiian tropics. Pineapple, Hawaii. Get it?
In this case, it’s the perfect weather to grow a rare strand of cannabis, called Pineapple Express. Maybe too rare for its own good…
Dale Denton is a lazy stoner who frequently visits his drug dealer Saul Silver for cannabis. But when Dale witnesses a murder by a crooked cop and a dangerous drug lord, he freaks and drops his roach in the street. The villains track the rare weed back to Saul and now Dale and Saul are on the run.
With a tagline “Put that in your bowl and smoke it”, this movie is sure to be a hit in this summer box office. All aboard the Pineapple Express!
